One of the traditional ways to awaken kundalini is via shaktipat. This is a spiritual transmission from a guru. The problem is, its fraught with potential problems. Firstly, the shaktipat might not take, it depends on your spiritual condition. Or Shakti might rise a little but not complete the journey, resulting in the aspirant repeatedly returning for more and developing a dependance on the guru, some of whom charge quite a lot of money.
Also not all spiritual transmissions are shaktipat, you may be told its shaktipat, you may even feel something but that doesn’t mean its the real thing. Although there are undoubtedly genuine gurus, there are also a lot of very dubious people out there willing to exploit the spiritual seeker. Just because an individual may be displaying spiritual powers, its not an indication of advanced spirituality. There are various meditations to acquire powers without ever even reaching the stage of kundalini awakening.
Once Shakti has completed her journey and unified with Shiva at the crown, although you are firmly now in the ‘enlightenment’ category, you are also paradoxically very vulnerable at this point. There will have been no previous experience to compare with this, there will be a lot of integration to do. The aspirant may seek help from those they perceive as being further along the path and it is at this point they they are most vulnerable to spiritual predation. I know, because it happened to me!
I have been found by several gurus that have long departed the physical plain. One example being Neem Karoli Baba, the great Indian saint who departed his physical body in 1973. He came to me in the night. Smiling radiantly, he hunched down next to me. I placed my hands on his head and gave him a blessing. We were both laughing, as he of course was the master. He took me on his lap and hugged me, it was so blissful and we were both crying, as he imparted the shaktipat. He urged me to remember how we’d first met, I couldn’t and still laughing, he looked in my eyes and said one word, Aghori.Aghori are the Indian sadhus renowned for their extreme practices like living in charnel grounds and meditating on corpses. Was I an Aghori in a past life? Ive no idea but then an Aghori appeared. He wore an orange robe and was covered in malas. Flowers were thrown over his head. They scattered into the air as a column of light burst from the top of his head. Above the petals, blue blue flames appeared. I woke and found myself surrounded by blue flames.
The Blue Flame was the great gift of this Shaktipat. A flame that purifies but doesn’t burn, the essence of a purified high frequency state of kundalini-Shakti.
The guru does not need to be in human form, the guru does not even need to be incarnate, the true gurus have left their essence in the astral and are still available to us, we may receive their grace without ever being aware of it. So I encourage you not to actively look for the guru but rather through your spiritual practices, draw them to you. Its their job to seek you out and not the other way round.
